26 ALLIANCES 2016 ESD, or Efficient Service Delivery, has a £560M deal to deliver projects, such as work on reservoirs, water treatment works and pumping stations, over the next six years for Scottish Water's non-infrastructure Quality and Standards IV (Q&S) framework. Projects being worked on by ESD include a £12.4M, two-year scheme to tackle sewer flooding in Elmvale Row, Springburn, where 34 properties have experienced recurring problems with flooding for a number of years. aBV is installing 13,500m 3 of stormwater storage into the sewer network to alleviate the surcharging of the sewer system. The joint venture is new and brings together Black & Veatch, Galliford Try and MWH as equal partners. It is one of three alliances working with Scottish Water on its current capital investment programme, the Partners working in South West Water's (SWW) H 5 0 Alliance have had their contracts renewed for a further five years with the utility. Hyder, Pell Frischmann, Interserve and Balfour Beatty originally had their AMP5 contracts extended for two years to March 2016. These four companies are H 5 O's main partners with contract values ranging from £2.4M up to £17.6M a year. Interserve and Balfour Beatty are carrying out major capital works for SWW while Pell Frischmann and Hyder are providing civil engineering design services. MEICA services for SWW AMP6 programme are through H5O's other others being aBV (wastewater infrastructure) and Caledonia Water Alliance (water infrastructure). As part of the agreement, ESD planned to: • Recruit 15 apprentices in the first year of the contract, with six in each following year • Employ ten graduates in the first year, with four in each following year – a total of 30 graduates during the six-year suppliers, namely Bridges Electrical Engineers, Kier MG, Nomenca and Tecker. It is worth noting that Kier's deal also includes IWDS and sewerage capital reactive work. SWW chief executive Chris Loughlin said that building on a successful AMP5 (2010-2015) regulatory period, the company is focused on remaining at the frontier of efficiency and was targeting AMP6 (2015-2020) outperformance. The company's enhanced business plan status had allowed it to advance AMP6 capital expenditure in 2014/15, delivering tangible benefits for customers and shareholders. programme of work • Deliver community benefits including a commitment to supporting Scottish Water's education programme, with 100 educational visits promised ESD and the other two alliances are supported by a large number of SME framework contractors to help deliver construction and maintenance projects. Investments during the year included safeguarding high quality drinking water through the completion of upgrades at two key water treatment works; upgrades at wastewater sites to improve compliance; and innovative investments to reduce the number of customers' properties at risk from flooding. Building on a successful AMP5 (2010-2015) regulatory period, South West Water is focused on remaining at the frontier of efficiency and is targeting AMP6 (2015-2020) outperformance. The company's enhanced business plan status allowed it to advance AMP6 capital expenditure in 2014/15, delivering tangible benefits for customers and shareholders. Areas of focus for the current year include further investment to improve wastewater treatment compliance and safeguard bathing water quality.
