Operations & Assets 14 | 16TH - 22ND OCTOBER 2015 | UTILITY WEEK High viz Four subsea cables have been laid to service the MeyGen tidal energy project. Each cable is protected by a borehole about 0.5km long, which runs from the foreshore to the Inner Sound of the Pentland Firth and down to the seabed. From the boreholes, the cables run along the seabed to the sites of the four 1.5MW tidal turbines, which will be deployed next year. Cable reels were loaded on to the Siem Daya 1 in Hartlepool and trans- ported to Caithness. Some 11km of cable was laid. The principal contrac- Making the right connections
