The Chestnut oil field in the Central
North Sea marks its seventh anniver-
sary of production this month. Since
producing its first barrel of oil in 2008,
the field – operated by Centrica – has
produced more than 14 million bar-
rels, double initial estimates. Oil is
drawn from the field 200km northeast
of Aberdeen by the Hummingbird, a
cylindrical floating production vessel
manned by up to 44 people which can
hold 270,000 barrels of oil at a time
