Innovative Safety Systems (ISS) is expanding its team with the appointment of new regional sales manager, Mike Crowther. Prior to joining the vehicle safety technology specialist, Crowther worked for a manufacturer of rubber hoses and mouldings for engine applications. During this time, he managed key client accounts across a number of sectors including municipal. Included in this portfolio were Dennis Eagle and various road sweeper manufacturers so he is no stranger to the world of waste. Crowther will spend most of his time visiting customers in his patch, which covers the North West, South West, West Midlands and Wales. Yorwaste has appointed a new group operations director, Geoff Derham, who will have responsibility for a team of over 200. Derham suc- ceeds Steve Barker, who was recently promoted to man- aging director of the firm. Derham was previously head of waste & fleet services at City of York Council. He originally started his career with Selby City Council and one of his first jobs was as a refuse collector. He also worked for Onyx (now Veolia). In his new role, he will be responsible for leading and developing all of the Yorwaste Group operations, including its waste and recycling sites and vehicle fleet. NEW APPOINTMENTS Movers & shakers Energy Systems Catapult, the UK's technology and innovation centre, has announced four key non-executive board appointments to deepen its expertise on energy management, development and research. The new board directors are: Peter Bance, entrepreneur and CEO of Origami Energy; Tani Nath, formerly managing director and chief operating officer of the Commodities division at Barclays Investment Bank; David MacKay, former chief scientific advisor to the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and Regius Professor of Engineering at the University of Cambridge; and Robert Davis, group CEO of EA Technology.
