RWM WITH CIWM 2015 PREVIEW WasteAid, the first recipient of the RWM Ambassadors programme's annual £15,000 grant, seeks to provide vulnerable communities with education and resources. The three main aims of the organisation are to exchange knowledge, raise awareness and funds, and deliver improved health, environmental and livelihood outcomes in those communities that 'fall between the gaps.' Current projects being supported by WasteAid include Kenya's Environmental Information Hub, a social enterprise that supports plastic recycling businesses, and India's Ganges Clean Up and Community Support, comprising a team of 'waste warriors'. The charity is also helping to support the work of waste pickers in Lagos, Nigeria. Looking to the future, the organisation wants to raise further awareness and attract expertise from throughout the sector. It is working on developing a blueprint waste strategy and raising more funds to expand the reach of its work. On a practical level, the team are researching small-scale waste processing technologies that would be appropriate for developing countries.
