E mployers in the energy and utility sectors are collaborating over a new initiative designed to generate a pool of quali ed sta in a bid to overcome the skills shortage. The new Talent Source Network (TSN) is a pioneering industry- led initiative that promotes meaningful connections between employers and talent communities ensuring energy and utilities are seen as employment industries of choice. The aim of the employers within the network is to pioneer new ways of working that will enable them to tackle the longer term skills gaps in the industry. Their rst two priorities are young people and service leavers looking for entry points into the sector and new training opportunities. In addition, the group will work to retain experienced talent within the industry, e ectively acting as a 'clearing house' for the sector. Led by employers in the Energy & Eƒ ciency Industrial Partnership, and supported by Energy & Utility Skills (EU Skills) and the National Skills Academy for Power, Talent Source Network will build a quality quali ed talent pool of 1,500 by September 2015 and 5,000 by September 2016. Talent Source Network will provide a site where: • Candidates can learn what it is like to work in the sector, stay engaged and gain privileged access to people, employers, training and careers contact not available elsewhere • Employers can engage and hire accredited talent pools of youth, service leavers and professional workers in a collaborative network • Partners can represent and C lean beaches, fertile farmland and wild wetlands could be improved if policy makers collaborated, according to the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT). The trust has identi ed that the diverse group of interests that manage land and sea in the UK o' en work at odds with each other. WWT hopes to bring policy makers together to nd solutions that will help achieve their goals more e ectively, and bene t others. The group includes farmers, ports, shery authorities, wildlife charities, as well as local authorities and government agencies. They can also refer interested talent in to the collaborative network Kate Davies, chief operating oƒ cer of EU Skills, added: "Employers in the Partnership have been running ground- breaking pilot programmes over the past year to encourage a wider range of people into our industry. Talent Source Network will o er employers the chance to refer candidates into the pool and help them nd the role they're looking for within the industry. "This kind of cross-sector collaboration is incredibly exciting and speaks volumes for the commitment and vision these employers have when it comes to longer term workforce planning, skills and training." The ž ip side is that as the coast is washed away, farmland inland is put at risk of ž ooding with sea water.
