WHAT'S NEW! 22 WET NEWS JUNE 2015 Grundfos Thinks Water book launched Grundfos has launched the latest edition of its Grundfos Thinks Water publication at a global leadership conference in Denmark. The publication has two functions - to communicate the various water activities that the company has been involved with, and to act as a support tool to its United Nations CEO Water Mandate role. The 24-page publication explains how Grundfos is demonstrating its responsibility to deliver sustainable water solutions in a responsible manner, and how it is being an active player in the communities in Brammer has announced a new partnership with Grundfos Pumps, with an extensive range of pumps now stocked in its centrally-located National Distribution Centre (NDC). The company has selected a hand-picked range of Grundfos pumps to meet the needs of its customers. Its comprehensive selection of centrifugal pumps includes close-coupled, end suction, multi-stage (horizontal and vertical) and sump and bore hole pumps. For customers requiring positive displacement pumps, Brammer now offers a range of reciprocating and rotary pumps including diaphragm, gear, progressive cavity, flexible impeller and peristaltic pumps. Also available is the DMH range of hydraulically-actuated piston diaphragm dosing pumps for enhanced dosing reliability in high-pressure applications, with Grundfos pumps added to Brammer stocks models available to withstand pressures from 50 to 200 Bar. Offering high accuracies, DMH models offer dosing flow fluctuations of as little as <+/-1% within the 10-100% control range. www.brammeruk.com Tel: 0870 240 2100 which it operates. It also includes case stories from Sweden, India, Vietnam and Zimbabwe, as well as an explanation about Grundfos' commitment to reducing its own demands for water and the steps it is taking to deliver its ambitions through a variety of tactics. www.grundfos.com Tel: 01525 85000 HWM in touch on correlation Water and asset monitoring specialist HWM has designed the new Touch Pro correlator for improved performance and ease of use. The unit features upgraded electronics throughout the leak noise processing path to deliver better results in traditionally difficult leak detection situations, such as on plastic or large diameter pipes. The Touch Pro's high-visibility full-colour VGA touch screen greatly improves data entry and the quality of graphical representation. The intuitive user interface enables operation with the minimum number of key presses and the step-by-step menu system easily guides the user through the correlation process. The new correlator features an Automated Filtering Intelligence System (AFIS), which automatically runs up to 55 different filter combinations on each correlation, checking the quality of the result and optimising the filters to obtain the best possible result. The system can be used with both live and pre-recorded correlation data, removing the need for manual filter setting by building a virtual "expert user" into the unit. www.hwm-water.com Tel: 01633 489479 The Fibrelite design and technical team recently helped overcome a number of potential problems for a construction company installing a stormwater attenuation tank to alleviate serious flooding on a housing development in Gwersyllt, north Wales. On-site infrastructure changes included the building of a large underground tank to store rainwater during a deluge until slow-release back into the wastewater network downstream was deemed safe. Lightweight, bolt-down, medium-duty composite trench covers were identified as a solution to the various difficulties. The specialist anti-slip material proved beneficial, as it meant that this relatively large area of covers would be safe for residents to Bolt-down covers pave the way for pedestrians cross, said the company. Fibrelite's composite covers are available in a wide range of sizes and load ratings. Designed to be a "fit-and-forget" product, they are maintenance-free, lightweight, durable and very strong as a matter of course. www.fibrelite.com Tel: 01756 799 773 George Koch Sons Europe has introduced the Koch Rejuvenator, a stand-alone system that can link to new or existing processing lines to optimise cleaning chemical costs, reduce waste disposal expenditure and enhance production quality. The skid-mounted Koch Rejuvenator is simply located alongside and connected to the relevant process tank. It utilises a ceramic membrane and highly efficient, Rejuvenator optimises cleaning costs ultra-filtration technology to remove waste materials from the wash water before returning it to the process. Because it maintains an extremely high quality level of wash solution, it benefits both production efficiency, helping the component or parts cleaning operation to be optimised. www.kocheurope.com Tel: 01543 444001 Locken, a leading developer of cable free access control, has further enhanced its system's capabilities by adding WiFi to its new key. The company's latest development, based on the Cyberlock technology, enables local users and central administrators to communicate in real time, allowing instant assignment of access rights, direct transmission of access reports and the coordination of activities at different locations. The new WiFi key is suitable for Cyberlock technology key for WiFi strategic and sensitive infrastructures and is suitable for protecting companies with sites in multiple locations. The key offers improved user security, with security managers receiving up-to-the-minute information about all events relating to access. The cable-free configuration, with power supply integrated into the key, not only provides a 'uniquely' secure system, but significantly reduces installation costs compared to other similar products. The running costs are further lowered by optimised access control management. www.locken.co.uk Tel: 0203 691 1610 Talis UK has unveiled a new butterfly valve - the Roco wave Butterfly Valve is the latest in Erhard's range of valves. The Roco wave has been designed in a flow-optimised way so it can safely withstand the force of water, as well as realise the least possible pressure loss compared with other butterfly valves available on the market. The valve comes with two disc designs – the principle wave disc for standard pressure ratings and small diameter valves, while Erhard's new 'Skeleton' butterfly disc is designed for stability and to optimise flow performance for Butterfly valve withstands force of water larger diameter valves and higher pressure ratings. As a result, the valves can be operated with the least possible pumping capacity, ensuring permanently low operating costs. The company said the curved wave shape of the Roco butterfly valve makes it suitable for seamless opening and closing without resistance, and the addition of the improved slider- crank mechanism (SKG) gearboxhelps to slow down the valve's closing speed. www.http://talis-uk.com Tel: 0845 077 9797 The new D2x family from E2S Warning Signals is based on a high output 116 dB(A) SPL 64-tone 4-stage horn sounder that can be combined with a powerful five or ten Joule Xenon strobe in a compact 130mm wide, 125mm deep die-cast marine grade aluminium housing. Designed for use in Zone 2, 22 and Division 2 hazardous locations, the D2x has multiple approvals permitting use in regions covered by IECEx, ATEX, NEC and CEC regulations. D2x range raises the alarm With four remotely triggered alarm stages, the D2x can signal multiple safety warnings or process events. E2S Warning Signals said that in the combined units, the Xenon strobe beacon and the alarm horn sounder can be activated individually via separate terminations or linked for simultaneous operation from a common power supply. www.e2s.com Tel: 020 8743 8880 The filter medium within Stormwater Management's new D-Rainclean bio-remediation infiltration channel has achieved 'class-leading performance' for the removal of pollutants from contaminated surface water run-off. Independent tests carried out under stringent DIBt standards for soil and groundwater protection, show the D-Rainclean system has performed to the discharge quality requirements of the Water Framework Directive (WFD), giving the porous channel's medium an expected operational life of between Meeting WDF requirements 15 and 20 years. Each D-Rainclean channel section is 500mm long and fitted with a 300mm wide cast iron inlet grating rated to either Load Class B125 for light traffic areas or D400 for heavy goods vehicle applications. Each section is filled with the bio-remediation media that cleans surface water as it passes through the filter layers, degrading and diffusing hydrocarbons and dissolved heavy metals like copper and zinc. www.storm-water.co.uk Tel: 01455 502222
