Stuart Tilney has been appointed as head
of Tomra Sorting UK, where he will be
responsible for developing strategy,
managing operations, overseeing corporate
and legal compliance as well as delivering
the company's growth objectives. Tilney
replaces Jonathan Clarke, who moved to the
position of commercial director recycling
last year.
Yorwaste has announced Steve Barker as
its new managing director. Barker joined
the company as group operations director
in 2013. He replaces Steve Grieve, who has
made the "difficult decision" to leave the
business after 16 years as MD. Yorwaste, a
waste management firm owned by North
Yorkshire County Council and City of York
Council, now employs over 230 people and
operates across 20 sites. Its new Allerton Waste Recovery Park is due
to come on stream in 2017.
Vehicle Weighing Solutions has added
Norman Bowes to its sales team. Newly,
who has worked in the municipal waste
sector for nearly 15 years, will cover an
area from the Scottish borders to Cornwall.

is on a steady upward trajectory with a
continually expanding product range," he
said.
The Confederation of Paper Industries'
Simon Weston has been appointed to the
Defra Advisory Packaging Committee.
The committee – which was revamped in
January – brings together industry expertise
in packaging and packaging waste to advise
and make recommendations to assist Defra
in its policy development on packaging
reuse, recovery and recycling. One of the
sub-teams is currently reviewing the role of the packaging regulations
in meeting the 2020 household waste recycling targets.
