10 Leaders 2015 The LeADeRS 2015 Mace has top 10 ambitions With a group strategy for organic growth, Mace rules out acquisitions in bid to become a top ten contractor. M ace Group is an interna- tional consultancy and construction company providing services for a wide range of industries including arts and culture; regenera- tion; retail; education; and energy and utilities. In the water sector, Mace has been reappointed as Affinity Water's service provider for AMP6. Mace is providing programme and project management expertise, design and delivery services, commercial management and planning expertise to ensure successful delivery of Affinity Water's asset investment portfolio. The renewed deal continues a relationship that dates back to AMP4 (2005), when Mace was appointed to manage asset delivery for Three Valleys Water, before it became Veolia Water and then Affinity Water. Growth strategy As a group, Mace has ambitions to be a top 10 UK contractor by 2020, and has put in place a strategy to help achieve that. The plan sets out its growth strategy and how it intends to develop a sustainable and stable business in each of its core markets. Mace executive chairman Stephen Pycro" says: "The group board is clear that our aim is to continue to grow organically as we implement the 2020 business plan. It is a growth strategy which has served us well in the last 20 years, and we therefore do not plan to achieve our targets through acquisitions or takeovers. Instead we will continue in our company and our people. "We aim to achieve these targets by continuing to develop and improve our existing business, whilst nurturing the trust and relationships we have with our clients and our people. These relationships are the lifeblood of our business and critical to our success." Pycro" says Mace will seek to secure major programmes and projects, focusing efforts on the property, infrastructure, energy, resources, oil and gas sectors in particular. "We will continue to build relationships and share our core values with our supply chain who are integral to the success of our business. Internally, we will grow and develop our own integrated service capability to support this strategy." Reynolds adds: "Collaboration through the entire life cycle of projects and programmes is key to how we do business. We are confident that our approach of driving efficiency, consistency, and quality through a culture of innovation will result in Mace achieving its aspirations." Mature market Jason Millett, chief operating officer for Mace's major programmes and infrastructure says that in utilities well- established links with the major water companies have enabled the group to secure work in this mature market.
