UTILITY WEEK | 1ST - 7TH MAY 2015 | 5 French state-owned energy company GDF Suez said on Friday it was rebranding as part of its strategy to manage the "profound" change in the energy sector. Its new name, "Engie", better reflects the company's interests in low-carbon energy than its current name which is derived from its previous name Gaz de France. The company operates in 70 countries, including the UK where it holds a significant stake in the business energy supply market. "I think it's absolutely fabulous" Energy UK's director of generation Barbara Vest says she believes tidal lagoon power has a place in the future energy mix £2bn Citi Group sparked an investor scramble after it announced its intention to sell its stake in Yorkshire Water Hornsea Project One has marked the completion of a major seabed investigation campaign, Dong Energy announced last week. British geotechnical survey company Fugro completed the investigation as part of prepatory work for the 1.2GW Hornsea Project One, sched- uled to be in operation by 2020. When it is commissioned, Hornsea will be the world's largest offshore windfarm, covering approximately 407 sq km. Located 120km off the Yorkshire coast, the project consists of 240 wind turbines, each with a capacity of between 5MW and 8MW. The infographic illustrates the size of the area as well as that of each individual 6MW wind turbine. Hornsea Project One ready to bed in NIW pension dispute near resolution The pension dispute between Northern Ireland Water (NI Water) and its staff is heading towards a resolution after the Northern Ireland Department of Finance and Personnel (DFP) approved a new pay package. The DFP agreed the deal put forward by unions GMB, Unite, and Nipsa in full. Union members will now be balloted on the proposals, with the unions recommending they accept the deal. In a statement, NI Water said the approval by the DFP "now allows the process to move forward and NI Water and the water group of unions have met to discuss the next steps". The agreement comes after the deadline for the DFP to approve the package was pushed back twice. When members formally accept the deal, the industrial action – which has been suspended since 22 January while negotiations took place – will come to an end. During the action, workers withdrew from overtime and refused to provide on-call services. More than 1,000 members of the trade unions started industrial action in December because of changes to their pension scheme.
