Zaun will also supply and install a series of Super10 gates for Affinity via security systems integrator Reliance High-Tech. The £50,000 contract is Zaun's first since Super10 was certified to LPS 1175 SR2 (certificate number 1164a/01) by the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) and entered into Issue 7 of the Red Book. The SR2 fenc- ing will surround four enclosures at two sites to the north west of London. www.zaun.co.uk Atlas Copco launch super-efficient VSD vacuum pump range A new range of highly efficient vacuum pumps has been unveiled by atlas Copco for the first time at the ComVac 2015 event. Heralded as a quan- tum leap forward for vacuum technology, the GHS VSD+ series promises energy savings of around 50% compared with conventional vacuum pumps. The GHS 350-900 VSD+ range, generating nominal displace- ment of up to 900m3/h, incor- porates state-of-the-art variable speed drive technology, which enables vacuum generation to adapt precisely to the user's requirements as part of a central supply system. Coupled with an innovative motor design, the new range sets new standards for energy efficiency of vacuum pumps, resulting in a dramatic reduction in the total cost of ownership. Benchmarked against oil-sealed and dry vane vacuum pumps, the GHS VSD+ pumps offer improved perfor- mance and a 50% reduction in noise levels. www.atlascopco.com Grundfos processes help tackle global water challenge Ocean Optics' Spark sensor suits OEM integration and benchtop use Ocean Optics' new Spark spectral sensor uses optical technology advances to shrink instrument size, making it the smallest on the market to date. The Spark-VIS is the first offer- ing in the Spark line of versatile spectral sensors, delivering high-resolution measurements over the visible wavelength range of 380-700 nm. available in both OEm and stand-alone configurations, the compact low-cost Spark-VIS is suitable for simple absorbance, fluorescence and emissive colour measurements. www.oceanoptics.com DWI approve Acothane's Polyurethane Coating system Acothane DW Solvent Free Pol- yurethane Coating has recently gained approval from the DWI under regulation 31(4)(a), for the lining of concrete, GRP and steel water retaining structures. This makes it one of the very few polyurethane coating prod- ucts on the market that is fully approved for use with drinking water. Coupled with its fast cure time and excellent elongation properties, this is exciting news for the water industry. Since gaining WRaS approval, Acothane DW has recently been used for relining potable water tanks within Hospitals, Local Authority buildings, Food pro- cessing factories and the Power and Chemical Industries. www.acothaneuk.com New data logger offers radio communication The new portable data logger from water and asset monitor- ing specialist HWm features high-speed radio communi- cation for safe and easy use. LoLog R allows operators to download and program from outside the meter pit or within their vehicle, meaning they can avoid roads, hazardous areas and two-man li s. Compact, submersible and battery powered, LoLog R is supplied in single- or dual-channel models. The analogue channel can be used for internal pressure, external pressure and 4-20ma. a digital channel is available for flow and status data. The dual option combines one analogue and one digital channel. LoLog R incorporates pulse interval timing to establish ac- curate recording of minimum flow. The unit can store up to 262,000 readings in non-volatile memory as standard, with the option to extend to 1m readings. Its lithium battery will last for five years under typical operating conditions. www.hwm-water.com Grundfos Pumps has been in- novating to look a er water sup- plies for the future through its processes and extensive product portfolio. Grundfos developed a process called Demand Driven Distribution which, via their MPC Controller, addresses leakage by reducing the surplus water pressure in pipes, whilst reduc- ing water hammer, which is the primary cause of new leaks. Wastewater transport and flood control is another area that Grundfos has given significant focus to, and the firm offers a range of solutions from fully- customised pumping stations to complete prefabricated sub- mersible pumping stations. www.uk.grundfos.com
