PUMP CENTRE CONFERENCE & EXHIBITION 2015 PREVIEW 5 The Pump Centre has awarded its first Pump Project of the Year award to a collaboration between Thames Water and Boulting Pump Management to upgrade the Littleton Raw Water Pumping Station. The project was unique in the way it heightened the efficiency of a historic pumping station – built in 1925 – while retaining as much as possible of its original 1920s character. The project stood out for the judges because of the way all parties worked together to solve problems, a collabora- tive approach that is indicative of what the Pump Centre stands for, according to chairman Mike Rush. Boulting's Brian Conway will be talking about the project in the Technical Conference while more information will also be available on the exhibition floor. However, you can get a sneak preview by reading our project report on page 16. Littleton wins pump project plaudits The conference and exhibition will get off to its now-traditional flying start on the evening of May 13th with the conference dinner, a perfect occasion to network with colleagues and custom- ers alike over some sumptu- ous food, drink and entertain- ment. Over 400 people are expected to join in the fun, with comedian Hal Crut- tenden and ventriloquist Steve Hewlett providing the laughs, while diners enjoy a menu of soufflé, beef and brioche. The evening will see the presentation of the Pump Dinner and fun to get event off to a flying start Centre's coveted Young Engineer Awards, while there will also be a charity raffle and a chance to have a flutter and make money for a worthy cause at the 'fun money' casino tables. The proceed- ings close at 11pm but the bar will be open a™erwards for those who want to continue enjoying themselves.
