UtILItY WEEK | 13th - 19th March 2015 | 9 Event APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR With backing from government and industry-leading companies, apprentice schemes are bringing vital new talent into the utilities sector. the judges of this award will be looking for an apprentice within a recognised scheme who has added value to their company, demonstrated their ambition and commitment to the sector, and is set to become a star of tomorrow. THE 'ABOVE AND BEYOND' AWARD – INDIVIDUAL AND TEAM Working in utilities is not a 9 to 5 job. When the lights go out, or the taps run dry, dedicated utilities workers will turn out no matter what the time or conditions. Professionals across utilities frequently go above and beyond the call of duty to reconnect customers, deal with outages and other unexpected events. these two awards will recognise an individual and a team which have given their all – and then some, in the direct line of duty. the judges will be looking specifically for how entrants' commitment delivered results for their business and their customers. THE HERO AWARD – INDIVIDUAL AND TEAM Opportunities for heroism arise in the most unexpected places. this is a special award for an individual from a utility who has done something amazing, outside the line of their usual duties, that deserves to be recognised and celebrated. CUSTOMER SERVICE AWARD this award seeks the individual or team that can show they have consistently delivered excellent customer service, outperforming expectations. the judges will be looking for customer feedback and evidence of an ongoing commitment to customer service. HEALTH AND SAFETY AWARD health and safety, of the public and employees, is an imperative for all firms operating in the utilities sector. this award seeks an individual or team that has made a significant contribution to health and safety within their workplace. this may be through developing a new initiative, identifying a new risk, or coming up with a new working practice. INNOVATOR Ideas change the world, and good ideas are the future of every business. the judges for this award are looking for an individual or team that has implemented a good idea that has delivered benefits for their customers, employer or colleagues. the judges will be looking for creative thinking, determination and originality. LONG SERVICE this award will recognise an individual who has dedicated their career to utilities. the judges will be looking for a consistent record of achievement and a demonstrable commitment to excellence. TEAM OF THE YEAR – CUSTOMER FACING, BACK OFFICE AND OPERATIONAL Whether it's the hr team who keeps the workforce running, the emergency callout team who reconnects customers, or the call centre team who handles those tricky contacts, people on the front line are the life blood of utilities. these awards will recognise those who have worked together to deliver outstanding outcomes. Judges will look for evidence of teamwork, meeting and exceeding targets, a constructive culture, and a focus on customers THE FRONTLINE AWARD FOR CONTRACTORS contractors are in many instances the public face of utilities, and their staff frequently go above and beyond the call of duty. this award will recognise a team or individual who has by their behaviour and actions improved the public perception and experience of utilities. Judges will look for evidence of commitment, caring and impact on end customers.
