ENERGY RECOVERY The great and the good of the industry will travel to Birmingham, next month, for the Energy Recovery conference. Here, LAWR presents a sneak preview of some of the seminars and top speakers. ndustry heavyweights, including Wamtech's Chris Coggins and Energy Gap's Keith Riley, will be descending on Birmingham's NEC next month to take part in the Energy Recovery show. The show runs from 21-23 April and the event's organisers hope to pull in crowds to listen to the hottest debates. They also hope to give attendees the opportunity to view a wide array of products and services from a vast number of exhibitors. The show is a must-see event and will provide practical, in-depth information on the energy recovery sector. The event will showcase the latest technologies in the industry and will be an excellent forum for professionals to share their knowledge in terms of new products, interesting new developments in energy recovery and all hot legislative topics. Targeted at energy recovery stakeholders, this three-day event will cover a variety of pressing issues, such as 'post-election prospects for energy recovery', investment, district heating in the community, anaerobic digestion and biofuels. The topics of 'innovation in practice' and 'creating brand value by closing the loop' will also be touched upon. From policy drivers and legislation to leadership and corporate social responsibility, the show covers everything you need to know. The seminar programme features contributions from many of the industry's leading voices, who will offer an overview of key issues shaping this sector. There are countless highlights, but here is a taste of what visitors can expect to find. Day One: Opening the seminar programme on the first day (Tuesday 21 April), Environmental Industries Commission's Matthew Farrow and Energy Technologies Institute's Geraint Evans will present on the issue of 'post-election prospects for energy recovery' and a panel debate will attempt to map out what the policy and operational landscape might look like for this diverse sector across the UK over the next five years. Next up, from 12pm-13.15pm, is Green Investment Bank's Chris Holmes who will be chairing the session on the changing landscape for financing energy recovery projects. The debate will explore what investors want and the issues surrounding Government subsidies. Day Two: The second day (Wednesday 22 April) of the show will be broadened out with Peter Jones chairing the topic of 'Fuelling corporate social responsibility: creating brand value by closing the loop'. Discussion points will include 'changing waste compositions, the feedstock mix versus technology mix and capitalising on reverse logistics'. The talk will also highlight 'future-proofing your plant'. An impressive line-up of panellists will join Jones, including Wamtech's Chris Coggins, Copper Consultancy's John Twitchen and Energy Gap's Keith Riley. Day Three: On Thursday 23 April from 14.45pm-15.45pm, the panellists on the session will be attempting to answer for the question: 'How do we step up a gear on biofuels?' Experts such as Gasrec's James Westcott and Greater London Authority's Andrew Richmond will have a discussion about the topic. This seminar will examine the opportunities and challenges in converting waste to vehicle fuel including operational/logistic issues and security of supply for biofuels.
