Anglian Water is using a tunnelling
machine to reduce the risk of surface
water flooding in Market Harborough,
Leicestershire. To avoid causing dis-
ruption to the town centre, the com-
pany has dug down 6m and is using a
manned machine, guided by lasers, to
build a 1.2m-wide pipe. The machine
has been making its 100m journey
while people in the town above carry
on with their lives.
