he 38MW Sleaford Renewable
Energy Plant has now been in
commercial operation for four
months and is generating enough
electricity to power 65,000 homes
using sustainable fuel sources.
The plant's technology is designed
for the clean and efficient combustion
of straw, secured mainly from farms
within a 30-mile radius of Sleaford.
Each year it aims to combust 240,000
tonnes of straw, saving 150,000 tonnes
of CO2. The ash produced will be
recycled as a crop fertiliser.
