22 WET NEWS january 2015 WHAT'S NEW! Hewitech takes control of installation With ever increasing numbers of stormwater management projects to handle, Hewitech uK is taking control of the installation of its stormwater attenuation tanks in-house. Its Variobox product, which is used in making stormwater attenuation tanks, is recognised as one of the strongest products on the market at 700Kn/m2 vertically and 200Kn/m2 laterally, all tested to raL standards. To carry out the installation work, Hewitech has invested in both people and equipment, comprising Demtech Steelcoat protection for pipebridge Winn & Coales' Denso Steelcoat 100/400/700 system has again been chosen by South Staffs Water to give long-term protection to one of its pipebridges. This was for a 30m pipebridge running alongside the road bridge over the river Churnet at rocester, Staffordshire. Contractors for this project were Deborah Services' Industrial Services Division. after removal of the residue of the previous coating, hand welders for welding the LLPE membranes around the assembled Variobox modules before then covering with 300gm protective fleece. The company also uses air testing equipment to test the tanks for water tightness and the seams, and thereafter be able to warrant all installations. Control boxes are also included in the Variobox tanks by the installation team to ensure ease of future access and maintenance. as well as installing stormwater attenuation tanks, Hewitech uK can also install other SuDs applications such as membranes under permeable pavements and open pond lagoons. www.hewitech.co.uk Tel: 01242 821678 www.WWT-innovation.net Organised by EXPERT SPEAKERS INCLUDE CONFERENCE CHAIR Bob Stear General Manager, Research & Development Severn Trent Water Kieran Brocklebank Head of Innovation United Utilities Sonia Phippard Director of Water and Flood Risk Management Defra Sonia Brown Chief Regulation Offi cer Ofwat George Taylor Head of Innovation Thames Water Richard Moriarty Director of Regulation Affi nity Water Professor Martin Cave OBE Visiting Professor Imperial College Business School Follow us @WWTlive using #waterinnovation There has never been an AMP cycle where innovation was more important. Building on the success of the past two years, WWT's 3 rd Annual Water Industry Innovation Conference will address the role of innovation and collaboration in AMP 6. A host of expert speakers will debate the paradigm shift that non-household retail competition has introduced to the water sector, examine how to address the TOTEX challenge, and explore the role of the supply chain and investment community in meeting long-term challenges like climate change and population growth. The Integra 200E delivers high purity laboratory grade water up to 15MΩ.cm, while minimising installation and servicing times. The Integra 200E provides laboratories with reverse osmosis, electro-deionisation, ultra-violet irradiation and bacterial microfiltration technology to reliably supply users with optimum efficiency and flexibility in the water purification process. The 'plug and play' system is configured and tested before delivery. The unit features a comprehensive control system complemented by a colour LCD touch screen, added security through a password access menu and a semi-automated chemical cleaning programme. It has a make-up flow rate of 200l/h and users can choose between a range of storage tank options to suit different needs, including 350, 500 and 1,000 litres. www.purite.com Tel: 01844 217141 Integrated routing at Tardis Tardis Environmental uK has implemented TranSend integrated routing and ePOD for job management to streamline its wet waste collection and disposal operation. TranSend is used for building and optimising routes, recording job tickets and tracking the progress of routes and jobs in real time. It previously used manual scheduling, with routes and job tickets being produced at each depot. This generated a high volume of paperwork for head office to handle without any visibility of routes and jobs in progress to be able to manage the operation as efficiently and effectively as possible. now a single, centralised team use TranSend for route planning and scheduling, reducing both the preparation was carried out to St2 standard using scrapers, wire brushes and emery cloth. The water pipe was then protected with the Denso Steelcoat 100 and 400 Tape Wrap systems. The Denso Steelcoat 400 consisted of Hi-Tack Primer, Denso Profiling Mastic, Hi-Tack Tape, ultraseal Tape, followed by a final two coats of acrylic topcoat. Denso Steelcoat 700 system, consisting of Denso ST Epoxy followed by a top coat of Denso Weathershield, was applied to the pipebridge's concrete stanchions. www. denso.net Tel: 020 8670 7511 paperwork and the time involved in the planning process.
