Main contractor balfour beatty sought a sustainable surface water management solution that could be installed quickly, with minimal disruption – and the unique modular design offered by Storm- brixx provided the answer. Key to Balfour Beatty's decision to use AcO Stormbrixx was its unique modular design, which allowed all the tank components to be stacked, transported and stored in just 25% of the space required by conventional crate- based systems. Less cumber- some and easier to handle, Stormbrixx produces a stronger more stable structure that can be configured to any size or location, overcoming the construction limitations and drawbacks suf- fered by traditional tanks. www.aco.co.uk/rail Nov Mono puts spotlight on Universal Parts Offering Following last year's acquisition of robbins and myers, NOV mono has revealed that over the past nine years, sales of its range of Universal Parts for progressing cavity (Pc) pumps have increased by a huge margin of 122%. "The dramatic growth in sales has been impressive by any stand- ards," comments Simon Lambert, Mono Commercial Director - UK, europe, Africa, middle east and central Asia. "It also underlines the increasing value which cus- tomers place on having quick and reliable access to high quality, proven parts for their Pc pumps." mono's precision-made Universal Parts are suitable for most other brands of Pc pumps, and the range contains a wide variety of components that help keep cus- tomers' plants and processes up and running at peak efficiency. www.bigonup.com A New Dimension in MBBR Technology for Veolia Veolia Water Technologies has launched a new generation of bio- film carriers for moving bed biofilm reactors: AnoxKaldnes Z-MBBR. The new carrier is the result of two decades of development work. Unlike conventional mbbr carriers, Z-MBBR has a unique three- dimensional contoured structure that allows the creation of a self- controlled, pre-determined biofilm thickness on the carrier. This gives a controlled redox gradient and maximises mass transfer. Veolia's Z carriers are customised to give biofilm thicknesses ranging from 200µm for fully aerobic processes like nitrification to 500µm for applications like Veolia's ANITAmox ammonox denitrification system, which require aerobic, anoxic and anaerobic conditions on the same carrier. Veolia's first Z-MBBR full-scale plant is currently under construction and will be fully operational by the end of 2014.t. http://veoliawatertechnologies. com/mbbr Grundfos S Tube cleared for take-off at Heathrow Heathrow Airport has carried out a successful trial of the Grundfos S Tube pump in its main central Terminal Foul Water Pumping Station. The S Tube was trialled for a full calendar year, amassing a total of 491 running hours, with zero blockages and zero failures. The Grundfos S Tube is based on completely new technology that offers a solution that combines high efficiency with low running costs. The benefits of the new tube shaped impeller means there are no dead zones and no cutting or moving parts that can wear out over time, meaning the Grundfos S Tube delivers: world class hydraulic efficiency, spherical passage up to 160mm, and a simple, robust design that results in longer life and lower maintenance costs. The client's final summary stated "The S-Tube has performed well and has shown that it is a serious contender in the wastewater pump market". Such results speak for themselves. www.grundfos.co.uk 01403 221000 Dependable odour control and gas scrubbing systems for anaerobic digestion plants There's nothing in the air! www.ergapc.co.uk info@ergapc co.uk
