10 ALLIANCES 2015 BMM, the BAM Nuttall and Mott MacDonald joint venture, was set up to deliver coastal and fluvial works under the Environment Agency's Water and Environment Management (WEM) framework. As part of the deal, the joint venture is delivering assets and projects in their entirety from conception to completion, including project appraisals, design development and early contractor involvement, design and build contracts, managing programmes of work and the operation and maintenance of assets. The framework also led to BMM being selected for a £23M contract to deliver flood protection for Leeds. The deal was procured through the WEM framework by Leeds City Council It involves works extending for 4.3km from the city mainline railway station to just below Knostrop weir. It will see the replacement of C2V+ is the joint venture between CH2M Hill and VolkerStevin. The alliance is one of four partners with will deliver United Utilities construction programme for AMP6 and potentially up to 2026. Both CH2M Hill and VolkerStevin have a long, successful track record of the existing fixed weirs at Crown Point and Knostrop with moveable ones that can be lowered in flood conditions to reduce river levels and the threat of river flooding. On completion this scheme will provide flood working with United Utilities. They have also worked together in other sectors including flood defence, environmental and marine for clients such as the Environment Agency and the Ministry of Defence. The AMP6 contract is a design and construct framework and covers the full spectrum of works for both water and wastewater across the North-west. The contract could be further extended to 2026. The framework comprises multidisciplinary activities including design, project management, construction, testing, commissioning and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment works, pipelines, pumping stations, reservoirs and mechanical and electrical installations.
