30 ALLIANCES 2015 Severn Trent Water (STW) has extended contracts with all its seven design and build engineering partners for a further five years. The new deals will see all companies working together in collaboration to deliver essential investment in the region's clean and wastewater network. Contracts were initially set up in 2009 and were for five years, with the potential to extend further if both parties agreed. Simon Cocks, wastewater services director for Severn Trent Water, said: "To deliver our future investment programme on behalf of our customers we need to work collaboratively as One Severn Trent − and that means right the way across our supply chain. We've developed successful long-term relationships with all of our supply chain partners, and we're pleased that we can continue to work together as one team to maximise the SMB, the joint venture between Skanska, MWH Global and Balfour Beatty, provide design-and-build solutions for the development and delivery of Thames Water's multi-billion-pound AMP6 programme as part of the eight2O alliance. The deal began in May last year with the 23-month Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) benefits of these arrange- ments. "The vision for the next five years is all about investing efficiently so that we continue to deliver the lowest bills in England and Wales for our customers and leave a legacy to be proud of." Costain chief executive, Andrew Wylie, added: "This is a consequence of our strategic phase, in preparation for the start of AMP6 delivery, running from April 2015 to March 2020. This has enabled a sustained period of collabora- tion with early involvement of SMB helping to define how works are delivered and drive best use of innovation to achieve efficiency gains and reduce costs. focus on building long-term relationships with major blue chip customers who are committing significant investment to meet urgent national needs, like the securing of the UK's water supply. The long-term visibility of our order book, which comprises over 90% repeat orders, is the direct result of this strategy." Peter Jones, SMB board representative for the jv and Skanska managing director, utilities, said: "All three of the joint venture partners bring industry-leading experience and best practice to the contract, offering balanced capabilities across the portfolio of work for Thames Water. "In winning this contract, we have shown we not only meet all the technical require- ments, but also have the collaborative team dynamic to deliver the best solutions, working alongside the rest of the alliance members and with a range of stakeholders. We have put forward a really strong team to deliver this important contract."
