ALLIANCES 2015 27 MGjv is a 50-50 joint venture between Morrison Utility Services and Galliford Try. In AMP5, the joint venture's sole aim has been to deliver Thames Water's AMP5 programme, including water and wastewater networks capital works that entails renewals, rehabilitation, upgrade or enhancement across south London and adjacent areas. Moving forward the MGjv, supported by AECOM, will be helping to deliver Southern Water's AMP6 improvements, along with CMDP and GTM. The three will work with Southern Water's strategic solutions provider, MWH. MGjv's work with Southern covers water and wastewater network lots. The lots are worth up to £180M, and involve upgrades to water supply and wastewater pipelines and pumping stations. Greg Fitzgerald, chief executive of Galliford Try, said: "We are delighted to Morgan Sindall and Grontmij have been working together on the Yorkshire Water AMP5 framework, and the partnership will continue for AMP6 as well. The collaboration's existing work for Yorkshire Water involves projects ranging between £5M and £50M. For AMP6 it is one of eight contract partners and three framework consultants to be appointed for Yorkshire have secured such a substantial amount of long-term business. MGjv was formed to provide the combined skills of engineering, programming Water's AMP6 investment programme to future-proof the utility's treatment works against extreme weather conditions; help protect the local environment; and continue to guarantee a secure supply of drinking water. The joint venture has a £26M project to improve Scarborough's bathing water quality. The project involves constructing additional and innovation to deliver every aspect of Thames Water's water and wastewater network investment needs. One reason for the joint venture was the way in which the water company tendered its AMP5 contracts – opting to work with leading organisations to deliver the base load of the programmes rather than letting numerous small contracts. stormwater storage facilities at Wheatcro› Sewage Pumping Station as well as a new 20m, 35m deep storage sha› at Toll House Pumping Station. The two companies have worked together for some time now and, working with Yorkshire Water, the team is carrying out improvement works to clean and wastewater treatment works in batches across the region. The scope includes all civil, process, mechanical and electrical engineering works from investigation and feasibility through to commissioning and handover.
