www.wwtonline.co.uk | WWT | ocTober 2014 | 59 Making light work of leakage clock Spring company recently carried out an external composite repair to a 1500mm diameter GrP sewage line with a 3bar design and 1.2bar operating pressure. Ground movement had caused the pipe to separate at a mitre bend. once the excavation area had been drained, the leak was sealed with a quick-cure, leak-stop material held in place with prefab- ricated patches, before being wrapped in the clock Spring con- tour repair system. A total of five layers were applied and the repair was completed within one day. www.clockspring.com Denso chosen for Cambs repair Winn & coales (Denso) Ltd's pro- tection system was selected to repair couplings and associated pipework during a refurbish- ment at the Kennet pumping station on the cambridge/Sus- sex border. Having been wire brushed, the pipe and coupling surfaces had Denso Paste applied, followed by Denso Mastic on bolt heads, nuts, flanges and other projec- tions. Denso tape was then used in a spiral wrap with 55% overlap to give the final smooth profile finish. www.denso.net Grundfos S-tube tried and tested Prior to its launch, the new S-tube was trialled in a combined sewage and stormwater pumping station in the north of england. The station had a history of pumps tripping due to excessive ragging. The field trial started in 2010 and Grundfos worked closely with the water company to develop and optimise the S-tube impeller based on operator feedback. A er a year of trouble-free operation the trial pump was li ed, inspected and used to make final revisions to the design. Such was the satisfaction with the test pump that it remains in situ now. uk.grundfos.com New Smart CDR from Inpro/Seal Inpro/Seal has introduced its latest development in sha grounding technology, the Smart cDr (current Diverter ring). The new Smart cDr is a condition monitoring system, providing instant feedback on performance and a simple interface to alert users if there is not optimal contact between grounding brushes and the sha , preventing bearing failure. If contact has been interrupted, routine maintenance can then be carried out to return sha grounding to peak performance. www.inpro-seal.com/smartcdr New website for Culligan UK Water treatment and filtration solutions providers culligan UK has launched a new website following a recent change of ownership. Now part of a 900-strong franchise network across 90 countries, the UK is now in line with the culligan International business model. The new site is designed to reflect that, with the same look and feel across the sites in europe and the Middle east. It is more interactive, has improved graphics and covers the full range of equipment and services Culligan offers. www.culligan.co.uk Specifiers see the light Fibrelite has seen a 'tremendous' increase in enquiries about its lightweight composite access covers, from industries keen to move away from metal and con- crete variants, says the company. The design of the GrP covers incorporates two li ing points, with specially-designed handles, to prevent fingers being trapped. They are corrosion-resistant and can be customised to incorporate company logos and brand mark- ings in single or multiple colours (see picture). Fibrelite can also provide bespoke and custom trench covering solu- tions to specific design criteria. www.fibrelite.com Hewitech chosen for Ashford WwTW Hewitech's cross flow media were selected for a £12.6m redevelopment of Southern Water's Ashford wastewater treatment works. The company's cF 15 PP cross flow was specified for a new nitrifying trickling filter (NTF) as its structure provided a suitable surface for the growth of the bacterial film necessary in the nitrification process. The polypropylene 190m 2 /m 3 model was applied in 1733m 3 quantity, providing a large surface area. www.hewitech.co.uk Big benefits from going small The mini66 is the latest addition to Inpro/Seal's bearing isolator offering. custom-engineered in either bronze or stainless steel, the mini66 us the smallest available bearing isolator to be rated IP66, measuring just 0.375in (9.52mm) in length. Protecting against both water and dust ingress, the isolators have a non- contacting, non-wearing design, providing increased reliability, decreased downtime and lower maintenance costs. www.inpro-seal.com/mini66 Nuts & Bolts Sourcing products, solutions and services
