September 2014 Local Authority Waste & Recycling 37 CSG Independent fuel court operator MRH Retail has announced that it has renewed its waste management contract with Cleansing Service Group (CSG). The new three-year contract means waste management specialist CSG will continue to provide a 'one stop shop' of drainage and mechanical maintenance services including interceptor emptying, cleaning of draining channels and sewage system maintenance to all MRH's 370 service stations. In a statement, CSG said that MRH also has access to "CSG's 24/7 emergency call out service." MRH Retail managing director John Lynn said CSG had provided a high level of service to them over the past three years and his company was pleased to be able to continue working with them. www.csg.co.uk PRODUCTS & SERVICES Plastic recycler Closed Loop Recycling has appoint- ed James Stapeley as its new commercial manager following the retirement of predecessor Chris White. Stapeley has spent the past 11 years working in the waste and recycling industry, advocating the benefits of zero landfill. During his nine years at FCC Environment, Stapeley managed the com- pany's energy-from-waste capacity for the likes of Kent County Council, Sita Surrey and Veolia East Sussex. Prior to this Stapeley was a com- mercial manager for European Metal Recycling, providing solutions to local authorities and large demolition firms. Previously he also held a number of sales roles. Movers & shakers Reversing-safety and vehicle camera specialist Sentinel Systems has announced the appoint- ment of Mike Spooner as key account manager. Spooner joins Sentinel after three years at Faun- Zoeller, prior to which he spent eighteen years as UK sales manager for Otto Lift. Sentinel managing director David Paulson said: "We're delighted that Mike is joining us." Waste and resource management consultancy, WRM, has made a raft of new appointments including Mark Richmond, the former waste team leader at global environmental consultant WSP, as technical director. Richmond's appointment completes phase one of the company's growth plans and follows a series of new appoint- ments which have expanded the consultancy's offering. Richmond adds further technical waste management and sustainability exper- tise to the company, with extensive experience in anaerobic diges- tion, materials recycling and resource efficiency, which he has gained delivering projects across the UK and Europe. G P Burners Swindon-based combustion equipment manufacturer G P Burners has unveiled a new optional touch screen interface. The TSI5000 touch screen is available with all of the company's new PLC (programmable logic controller) controlled burners and may be retrofitted to existing equipment with PLC controls. It has been designed to simplify burner operation and assist engineers in maintenance and service regimes. The 15" monitor features a clear graphic display for maximum visibility and ease of operation, according to G P Burners. In additon, the interface can monitor up to four boilers or burners. A functional status screen allows the operator to control burner enable, shutdown and set point adjustment. G P Burners also claims that its new touch screen interface may be remotely accessed via a PC, tablet or mobile phone. www.gpburners.co.uk Hewitech Hewitech UK, a plastic media specialist, has revealed that it is relocating to new premises in Andoversford, Cheltenham. The firm, which is the UK arm of parent company Hewitech, moved to Cheltenham last year to set up its UK operations but now needs bigger premises to cater for its growing business. The company's new premises comprise factory, offices and storage facilities of more than 11,000 square foot. Hewitech UK and director Dave Fozzard said: "We have won some excellent contracts this year with some leading names, both for our waste water treatment media and stormwater management media." Hewitech UK's parent company is based in Ochtrup, Germany. It is an innovator of recycled polypropylene and PVC media for a variety of applications. www.hewitech.co.uk Leafield Environmental Plastics manufacturer Leafield Environmental has announced that it is attracting a lot of interest from overseas markets on the back of strong demand for plastic bins.
