With more than 750 exhibitors expect- ed, 60 free seminar sessions and more than 125 speakers, the flagship show will provide local authority, waste manage- ment and recycling professionals with a world-class exhibition, highlighting all the latest developments in waste and recycling under one roof. Visitors will be able to hear about the latest resource management develop- ments and speakers will be drawn from across the sector with many focusing on the current challenges and concerns facing local authority and waste contract managers. An event to remember This year the conference will have three main seminar theatres including the Local Authority Theatre, Energy from Waste Theatre and the Circular Economy Theatre. The Local Authority Theatre will focus on legislative issues, including increasing recycling through targeted engagement and guaranteeing higher quality recy- clate. Speakers such as ECO Plastics' Jonathan Short will be on the panel exploring successes and challenges in achieving high quality recycling. See page 24 for a sneak peek of the arguments he will be putting forward in this session. In addition, Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority's Claire Standish will be analysing how the authority has used social media tool Facebook to promote its successful #RubbishSelfie campaign, in order to get its student population to recycle more (see page 22). Visitors will also have a chance to question Communities Secretary Eric Pickles over his weekly collection poli- cies after he delivers his ministerial key- note speech at the show on 17 September. Elsewhere, the Energy from Waste Theatre will gather a balance of opin- ions from waste companies, technology owners and developers, and the experts best placed to forecast the evolution of technology and the size of the market. Key speakers will provide visitors with the latest information on refuse derived fuel. Here, LAWR will get panellist Linda Ovens, from AMEC, to outline her views on RDF exports and to give her opinion on whether she thinks the material is a waste or not (see pages 27-28). The Circular Economy Theatre will provide intimate one-hour closed work- shops that will provide insight into the key themes and challenges in closed-loop practices. A total of 11 workshops will be provided at the RWM show this year. Show organisers have also introduced a new area, called Circular Economy Connect, dedicated to facilitating net- working where visitors can meet profes- sionals, learn from experts and develop understanding of resource efficiency. Launched on the back of RWM customer feedback, Circular Economy Connect will address the key barriers to and suc- cesses in the uptake of the circular econ- omy. Speakers already confirmed to pre- sent at the Circular Economy Connect Theatre include environmentalist Walter Stahel, who coined the term 'circular economy' and is widely regarded as one of the world's most eminent leaders on the topic, as well as representatives from WRAP, LARAC and Jaguar Land Rover. The resource management industry is lining up to show its wares at this year's RWM conference. LAWR looks at the highlights and gives you a taste of what to expect. ► Networking opportunities: RWM in partnership with CIWM " Visitors will also have a chance to question Communities Secretary Eric Pickles " T
