AES Ballylumford is owned and operated by AES Corporation. Situated on the northwestern tip of
Islandmagee in County Antrim, it is separated from the west by Larne Lough. It is one of the largest
power stations on the island of Ireland and provides more than 50% of Northern Ireland's total
generating capacity, and 17% of the all-Ireland capacity.

Operates on gas with HFO backup, following a £35 million gas conversion project completed in
1996. Low NOx burners were fitted. A 600MW CCGT was completed in 2003. Contract details:
