UTILITY COMPANIES 141 UTILITY WEEK ENERGY SUPPLY HANDBOOK 2014 UK Power Networks Licences: Electricity Distribution Newington House, 237 Southwark Bridge Road, London SE1 6NP Tel: General enquiries: 0845 601 4516 Website: www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk UK Power Networks distributes power to a quarter of Britain's population through its electricity networks serving London, the south east and the east of England. The company's 5,000 employees are dedicated to delivering a safe, secure electricity supply to about eight million homes and businesses via its networks of substations, overhead lines and underground cables. We are also undertaking trials to ensure our electricity networks support the transition to a low carbon future. Customers pay their bills to supply companies but UK Power Networks delivers the power across our three areas. The industry regulator Ofgem sets an allowed revenue to distribution companies so that they can maintain safe and reliable electricity supplies. If customers are unfortunate enough to be affected by a power cut or have another issue with the electricity supply to their property, they should contact UK Power Networks if they live in the east of England, south east of England or London. UK Power Networks is owned by the Cheung Kong Group (CKG) which has a proven pedigree in running high-quality utility companies, and a track record of wise investment and long-term plans. It already successfully operates electricity distribution businesses serving communities in Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand. • Number of customers: approximately 8 million • Area (sq km): 29,165 • Units distributed (GWh): 86,439 • Kilometres of overhead electricity lines: 65,300 • Kilometres of underground electricity cables: 98,000 • New connections per year: 100,000 • Number of employees: 5,000 • Contractor full-time employees: 3,000 • Turnover (£m): 522.2 (East) 434.0 (London) 343.4 (South East) • Revenue from regulated business £1.3 billion • Revenue from unregulated business £0.2billion Senior personnel Chief Executive Officer Basil Scarsella bscarsella@ukpowernetworks.co.uk Director of Asset Management Barry Hatton barry.hatton@ukpowernetworks.co.uk Director of Network Operations Patrick Clarke patrick.clarke@ukpowernetworks.co.uk Director of Health, Safety, Murdo Allan murdo.allan@ukpowernetworks.co.uk Sustainability and Tecnhical Training Director of Human Resources Chris Degg chris.degg@ukpowernetworks.co.uk Director of Finance Richard Roberts richard.roberts@ukpowernetworks.co.uk Chief Information Officer Andrew Bilecki andrew.bilecki@ukpowernetworks.co.uk Director of Capital Programme Nirmal Kotecha nirmal.kotecha@ukpowernewtorks.co.uk Director of Customer Services Matt Rudling matt.rudling@ukpowernetworks.co.uk Director of Connections Mark Adolphus mark.adolphus@ukpowernetworks.co.uk Director of UK Power Stewart Dawson stewart.dawson@ukpowernetworks.co.uk Networks Services Director of Strategy Ben Wilson ben.wilson@ukpowernetworks.co.uk and Regulation
