The London Array Offshore Wind Farm, a joint venture being developed by three international
companies – Dong Energy, E.ON and Masdar, is being built more than 20km (12 miles) from the
Kent and Essex coasts in the outer Thames Estuary. At 630MW, London Array will be the world's
largest offshore wind farm when complete. The first 630MW phase consists of:
• 175 turbines
• Two offshore and one onshore substation
• Nearly 450km of offshore cabling.
It will generate enough energy to supply more than 470,000 homes and displace more than 925,000
tonnes of CO2 a year – equivalent to taking nearly 300,000 cars off the road each year.
