With capacities up to 80m, it includes an integral, continual leak monitoring system enhancing safety and reducing inspection and maintenance costs. and, being a self-bunded tank, does not require any other type of bunding and can be bolted onto a flat plinth on delivery. This offers significant savings over civil or separate plastic bunding systems. www.forbesgroup.co.uk Pulsar wins innovation award Pulsar Process Measurement's non-invasive flow monitor, Flow Pulse, won the National Innova- tion award at the Institute of Water President's Dinner in June. Developed in co-operation with Dwr Cymru Welsh Water (DCWW), Flow Pulse monitors flow rates within critical sewage pump- ing stations under both normal and storm conditions. the clamp-on, refracted spread spectrum analysis moni- tors have a minimal installation cost, saving an average £6,000 per installation compared with Mag- flow meter installation and DCWW estimates a £1.5m saving over the full installation project. www.pulsar-pm.com Automatic regulation Pegasus+ is a new electronic controller for pressure reducing valves (PRVs) from HWM. It enables detailed, multi-point PRV control without a flowmeter, either by flow or by time, together with sophisticated closed loop control. automatically adapting to net- work changes by analysing data from up to three critical points, Pegasus+ permits immediate pressure control within a distribu- tion network. a latching solenoid output allows valves to be fully opened or closed in emergencies and bi-directional gPRs telemetry can be used to trigger alarms or remotely control the valve. www.hmw-water.com NOV Mono picked for Peacehaven NOV Mono has provided 10 progressing cavity pumps for the new southern Water Peacehaven wastewater treatment works. A number of different pumps have been used including LF in- jection pumps, Widethroat pumps and EZstrip cake pumps. the EZstrip technology allows the cake pump to be dismantled simply be removing a few screws, giving immediate access to rotat- ing parts to remove blockages without disconnecting or remov- ing any pipework. the technology cuts what could be a full day's work down to just eight minutes, says the company. www.mono-pumps.com Conder investment pays off Conder aqua solutions has invested in new rotomoulding technology which will significantly increase production capabilities. Commissioned in May, the new technology works by heat- ing a specialist polymer powder within a tank mould while it is rotated. It is already being used to manufacture Conder's newly- designed, low-profile septic tank range with a new rotomoulded asP sewage treatment plant to follow. the investment should increase turnover by 20%. www.conderproducts.com the new gEa Westfalia separator waterMaster CF 6000 decanter is designed to offer maximum per- formance and reliability but with energy savings of up to 50%. available as both a stationary or mobile unit, the waterMaster decanter is used in the dewater- ing and thickening of sewage sludge, treatment of drinking water and nutrient and mineral recovery. thanks to a range of energy- saving features, the decanter now only requires 0.5kWh for each cubic metre of thickened sludge and with reduced flocculent con- sumption represents a sustain- able and efficient option. www.gea.com Hydro launches rotating sludge scraper the new Zickert 3700 rotating sludge scraper from Hydro Inter- national is suitable for primary, humus and final settlement tanks. the design removes the need for a bridge, meaning a lower profile is achieved, reducing space under odour control covers and therefore, leaving less air to be purified. there is also no moving elec- trical connection point meaning no sliprings are needed. Ideal for new installations and retrofit on circular tanks, the Zickert 3700 delivers through- life operating savings as well as improved odour control says the company. www.hydro-int.com Tecta gets EPA approval Veolia's environmental monitor- ing technology unit Endetec has received us EPa approval for its tecta automated microbiology system. the approval has been granted for performing regulatory compliance testing for E. coli and total coliform bacteria in drinking water distribution system samples under the Revised total Coliform Rule (RtCR) and other related regulations of the safe Drinking Water act. the system comprises the tecta B16 instrument and tecta EC/tC single-use test cartridge. www.veoliawatertechnolo- gies.com/tecta 50% energy savings
