It has al- ready installed two high efficiency combined heat and power generators at a cost of £1m each. These create around one third of the energy required to power the plant each day. A £30m project will see further improvements to the way sludge is treated as the AD proc- ess is converted to advanced digestion with thermal hydrolysis. A new facility will allow for increased bio gas production for renewable energy generation. By adding a fourth digester the site will become much more environmentally friendly and move it towards its goal of energy self- sufficiency. Carbon emissions will also be cut as well as the miles needed to transport material. Pollution, closure, heavy fines, negative publicity, loss of profits? Industries treat acidic effluent in different ways, but many are now turning to Neutralac SLS45, the UK's fastest growing, high strength liquid lime. Utilities, Metals, Chemical and Food manufacturers are all under compliance pressure to meet increasingly stringent wastewater treatment legislation, and why many are harnessing the benefits of Neutralac SLS45. Investment in AD processes and plants is set to continue and water companies really are becoming centres of excellence for a technology that is likely to play an ever more important part in the UK's energy generation mix.
