Book your place at www.lcniconference.org Subscriber of the week Sahar Danesh, principal policy adviser, Institution of Engineering and Technology "The world around us exists because of engineering" What was your first job? My first job was in the café at Edinburgh Castle. What are the best and worst parts of your job? The best part is being able to talk to engineers who are lead- ers in their fields. The most challenging part is that every time you learn something you realise that all your knowledge is just a drop in the ocean. What's your dream job and why? I'm doing it. I always wanted to work for IET and to promote engineering, though I would never have predicted I would do that through a policy route. What's your most treasured possession? My phone. I'm not sentimental about trinkets – but I'd be lost without my phone. Where did you last go on holiday? Ibiza. In the Hollywood film of your life, who would play you? Angelina Jolie. She's pro- gressed from a bit of a rebel to a respected political activist and I think that mirrors my own career. Reveal something about yourself not many people know I write short stories and plays. What album is currently in your car CD player? Recently I've been listening to Arctic Monkeys, AM. What's your favourite film and TV programme? TV: The West Wing. Film: The Wizard of Oz. What quote or saying do you most overuse? I find myself saying "that's very interesting" all the time. If you ruled the world, what would you do first? Make everyone understand that the world around them only exists because of the ingenuity of engineers and engineering. What's your favourite joke? An Englishman, an Irishman and a Scotsman went into a pub and the barman said: "What is this, some kind of joke?"
