22 WET NEWS JULY 2014 WHAT'S NEW! High pressure, low flow dosing Anti-the design grating ACO has launched an alternative to the traditional two-part channel and grating system, the MultiDrain Monoblock PD100D. The one-piece, anti-theft design removes any risks associated with dislodged or stolen gratings. The lightweight Monoblock PD100D was developed to meet the demands of both contractors and end clients. It is manufactured from Vienite, Pump delivers energy efficiency Traditionally, the wastewater industry had to choose between selecting a pump that delivered energy efficient performance or free passage. The Grundfos S-tube with its innovative impeller has alleviated this situation as there are no dead zones and no cutting or moving parts that can wear. Such a scenario faced a water utility company in the South-west ACO's high performance recycled material that is four times stronger than traditional concrete. With an integral Heelguard grating, Monoblock PD100D is certified to BS EN 1433:2002 load class D400, and is suitable for pedestrian, car and HGV applications. The system's 0.5m long channel units form the core of the range — these are available in five constant depths from heights of 128mm to 353mm. The 100mm wide channels are available as standard in black, typically complementing asphalt pavements, or in natural or grey colour options. www. aco.co.uk Tel: 01462 816666 at a wastewater pumping station, where it was experiencing high operating costs and disruptions. This situation resulted in 15 blockages over a three-month period necessitating vacuum tanker cleaning events to remove rags and clean the pump chamber. Grundfos was asked to look at the pump station and selected the SL1.80.80 Atex-rated S-tube wet well submersible pump to improve the performance of the pump station. This pump had a solids handling capacity of 80mm whilst maintaining an efficiency of 63% therefore there was no compromise between pump efficiency and solids handling capacity – a key feature of the S-tube impeller. www. uk.grundfos.com Tel: 01525 850000 Chris Newsome Director of Asset Management Anglian Water Graham Southall Head of Commercial Projects Thames Water Mike Pedley Head of Energy Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water Dan Green Head of Sustainability and Innovation Wessex Water Ben Roche Head of Energy and Recycling Operations Yorkshire Water Chris Toop General Manager, Energy Programme Scottish Water Neil Liddell-Young Renewable Energy Manager Severn Trent Water SPeakeRS iNCLuDe For the past 3 years, WWT's flagship Sustainable Water Conference and Exhibition has established itself as the premier event for water industry professionals tasked with building resilience and sustainability into their businesses. The new valve contains a ball that enables the linear flow of liquid, with a patented, regulating fin shaped ball, a dial on top of the valve to indicate percentage of flow and an updated easy to fit design. The range is available in various sizes from 16mm-63mm and is available in PVC-U. Unlike other solutions that are available, where the flow increase is greater or smaller at either the start or the end of the opening cycle, the new VKR valve is linear throughout the full cycle. Furthermore the valve can be proportionally actuated using an electric positioning actuator with 4-20mA input. The VKR valve is lightweight, easy to install and available from stock within 48 hours of ordering. www. durapipe.co.uk Tel: 01543 279909 A new range of dosing pumps from NOV Mono offers an efficient, reliable and low maintenance solution for applications where low flow, accurate dosing is required. The new Mono dosing pump provides a smooth pumping action with no pulsation and very low shear. The pump is suitable for either intermittent or continuous dosing duties in high pressure, low flow applications, and represents a cost-effective and reliable alternative to the more expensive gear pumps traditionally used for these types of duties. The new dosing pump has the option to transfer low flows at high pressure, up to 1,044psi. With no valve components, blockages are eliminated and the working pump life is extended. Stators are available in a variety of different materials, and their flexible and resilient operating characteristics enable the pump to handle a wide variety of applications, and increase the pump's resistance to wear.. www. mono-pumps.com Tel: 07892 678902
