Nuts & Bolts Sourcing products, solutions and services www.wwtonline.co.uk | WWT | JULY 2014 | 33 One-piece option from Aco Aco's one-piece MultiDrain Mono- block PD100D is an alternative to traditional two-part channel and grating systems, removing risks associated with dislodged or stolen gratings. Made from Aco's Vienite, it has an integral Heelguard grating, is certified to BS EN 1433:2002 load class D400 and all channel units weigh less than 25kg and are designed with low maintenance, ease of installation and durability in mind. The 0.5m long channel units form the core of the range, available in five constant depths from 128mm to 353mm in black, natural or grey colour options. www.aco.co.uk In-house oxygen generation Compressed air specialist Boge has launched a new range of oxygen generators, including 0 3 P to 0 15 P and 0 3 PE to 0 15 PE models. Their modular design means the new generators can be efficiently adapted to meet oxygen genera- tion demands – o en significantly cheaper than delivery by an exter- nal gas supplier and allowing users to continuously monitor purity levels. Up to two expansion banks can be connected to each master bank and each bank can hold up to six individual modules, meaning up to 18 modules can provide generation of between 2.49 and 46.8 Nm 3 /h. www.boge.com/uk HWM data logger tackles water hammer HMW Water has developed a new data logger specifically to monitor the water network for damaging pressure transients and combating 'water hammer'. Featuring a five-year battery life, fast data sampling and large memo- ry (4GB of flash memory combined with data compression allows up to eight billion readings to be stored), HWM's pressure transient logger is suitable for both long-term surveys and trouble shooting. The logger is supplied with pressure transducer and quick-fit connector, download lead, so ware and robust aluminium case. www.hwm-water.com Polypipe chosen for Welsh works Polypipe's Ridgistorm-XL large diameter piping system has been used as part of a flood alleviation scheme for Welsh Water. The project, Gulls Way capital works scheme in Heswall, Wirral, required combined sewer improvements to increase capacity of the existing 450mm concrete sewer to prevent the surrounding residential road and properties from flooding during storm events. Polypipe supplied a fully-engineered Ridgistorm-XL attenuation system comprising a dual pipe run, providing an additional 360cu m of storage. It also prefabricated structural compo- nents, including 1500mm chambers and modular 'H' access manholes to sit between the pipe runs. www.polypipe.com/wms Safe gas extraction from Ametek Ametek Precision Monitoring Control's Rotron Chem-Tough regenerative blowers are designed for situations requiring safe and ef- ficient handling of corrosive and/or potentially explosive gases. The blowers use regenerative air technology to develop proper air pressures and vacuums, without the higher energy and mainte- nance costs associated with larger, multi-stage or positive displacement blowers and compressors. Features include nickel-plated components, 303 stainless steel motor sha s and hardware, low- friction polymers for permanent 'dry' lubricity and custom-designed seals to assure leak containment. www.ametektip.com Denso Steelcoat protects Edinburgh supply Winn & Coales Steelcoat 100/400 has been used in a £32.6m upgrade of Scottish Water's Talla aqueduct. The Steelcoat system was selected to give protection to 350 linear metres of pipe and various joints and couplings in 12 differ- ent structures and locations. In each case the system com- prised Denso Hi-Tack Primer, Denso Profiling Mastic, Denso Hi- Tack Tape, Denso Ultraseal Tape and Denso Acrylic Topcoat. www.denso.net Ovivo's emergency response Ovivo UK has supplied its first Copa SAF emergency response wastewater treatment plants to Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water. Designed for rapid transportation to support treatment plants that urgently need to address failing discharge consent, the Copa SAF technology can also provide vital support for works undergoing planned maintenance. First manufactured in 1992, the system features a simple plug-and-play operation and is available for hire or as a unit that can be permanently available to respond to planned or reactive situations. www.ovivo.co.uk Sydney contract win for SIPOS In the latest of a series of Sydney Water contracts won by Barron GJM (SIPOS' agent in the region) a SIPOS Aktorik actuator and gearbox combination is being used to aid sewage flow control at Sydney's Brooklyn sewage treat- ment plant. The plant inlet valve at the STP will remain in its open position. In the event of failure of any of the sewage treatment processes, a valve will divert flow to a storage tank: if the tank reaches capacity, an alarm will trigger closure of the valve. A UPS/battery back up on the actuator, installed on the inlet valve, ensures that the emergen- cy procedure is maintained, even in the event of power failure. www.sipos.de
