UK AD & BIOGAS PREVIEW The UK AD & Biogas 2014 trade show at Birmingham's NEC next month is a must-attend event for those looking to collect and treat their waste through anaerobic digestion (AD). The show will have 250 exhibitors, 22 seminars and workshops, several conference sessions, one-to-one clinics and industry awards, all under one roof. The UK & AD Biogas 2014 exhibition will offer a host of information and contacts to those who are interested in building and operating an AD plant, sourcing AD equipment and services, looking to send their food waste to AD or trying to find out the best use for their AD outputs. There's also high-level policy discussion at the conference, including a panel session on 'How the waste market will develop' and the benefits of on-site AD. Key speakers at the session will include: Closed Loop Recycling's Chris Dow, SITA UK development director Stuart Hayward-Higham and Eunomia's Harriet Parke. The trade show's exhibitors also provide a wealth of information, with organisations such as WRAP, the Anaerobic Digestion & Biogas Association (ADBA) and a host of experienced AD technology suppliers and operators there to provide tailored advice and guidance. Speaking about the conference to LAWR, ADBA chief executive Charlotte Morton says: "As usual the show will be bigger and better than the one before. It is an opportunity for anybody who has any interest or involvement in the AD industry to come together and find out the latest technologies, what the latest developments are and better ways to do things and better practice. It reflects the fact that the industry has been growing so well in the past two to three years." ENER-G is one such supplier. ENER-G has manufactured, installed and operates in excess of 120MW of biogas power generation from AD, waste- water, landfill and associated gases. ENER-G is a well-known specialist in biogas utilisation, with a number of AD projects in operation within farming, food and drink, dairy and municipal waste sectors. The company also has vast experience of generating high value power and heat from sewage, including its 4.5 MWe biogas cogeneration system at the Budapest wastewater treatment plant (pictured below) and numerous CHP wastewater projects in partnership with UK water companies. According to ENER-G, its AD package is suitable for a variety of industrial processors, such as brewing, distilling, soft drinks, dairy, bakery and many other sectors. Nottinghamshire-based advanced anaerobic digestion specialist Monsal will also be attending the show and demonstrating its widely-recognised technology at the exhibition. Omex Environmental will also be exhibiting at the show. The company specialises in developing and marketing a range of nutrients and neutralisers for all types of biological wastewater treatment and biogas plants. The company will be showcasing its range of micronutrient supplements at the exhibition. The company states that its product is a liquid additive for biogas plants to help "with all the necessary trace elements needed for successful bacterial growth and function". According to Omex, it is "rare for anaerobic digester systems to have the complete range of nutritional elements present for optimal bacterial growth. Shortages of specific micronutrients, which are critical components of enzyme systems in the bacteria, often occur. This can mean that the digester plant does not run at full efficiency with a consequential loss of performance and output." Top AD kit on show at B'ham NEC ASK THE EXPERTS A.D. ODOUR? ANY ODOUR?
