BUSINESS | 16 | Desalination & Water Reuse | May-June 2014 New Chile offiCe aNd CouNtry Chief for ide teChNologies ide technologies has opened a new office in Chile and appointed rodrigo turra as country sales director. turra brings 18 years of management and business development experience in the water industry, which he will use to increase awareness and sales throughout latin america for ide's small and large-scale membrane and thermal desalination solutions, as well as its industrial water treatment business. Prior to joining ide, turra was business development manager at seven seas water, managing the development of build-own-operate and build-own-operate-transfer new business in Chile. in this role, he generated more than 20 seawater desalination and water reuse project opportunities. he has also been senior account manager for ge Power & water, where he was responsible for maintaining existing business as well as generating new opportunities ex-adelaide desaliNatioN Chief joiNs siNgaPore's hyflux Milind Kumar, formerly project director of the adelaide desalination Plant for south australia water, has been appointed to a senior position in singapore group hyflux ltd. the group has appointed Kumar as senior managing director responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction of group projects in india, Middle east and africa. Kumar has over 28 years' experience in project management, engineering management, construction management and general management in multi-discipline projects in energy, refining, petrochemicals, infrastructure, mining, power generation and water utility sectors. he has worked on large projects in the uK, australia, india and the Middle east. PaNg joiNs seveN seas water as seNior viCe PresideNt ark w Pang has joined seven seas water Corporation as senior vice president, chief business development officer and a member of the executive committee. Pang, managing director and owner of ark infrastructure solutions inc, joins seven seas water after seven years as chief development officer for the infrastructure Project development division of Kharafi National Company of Kuwait. Previously, Pang was vice president and global water scarcity business development leader for ge infrastructure water & Process technologies. he had a successful career working for 24 years with ionics inc, before its sale to ge in 2005, where he held various senior executive management roles, most recently vice president of global business development. iNteriM Ceo aNd Cfos aPPoiNted for evoqua the board of directors of evoqua water technologies, formerly siemens water technologies, has named aea investors lP operating partner gary Cappeline as interim Ceo and Mark roos, formerly chief financial officer of unifrax llC, previously an aea portfolio company, as interim Cfo. former Ceo dr lukas loeffler has left the company and as determined in december 2013, Cfo Mirko schueppel left on 31 March 2014. the board will begin an immediate search for their replacements. Cappeline, formerly president and chief operating officer of ashland inc, is a chemical engineer and has extensive water and industry vertical experience. he joined aea in 2007 and has been involved with evoqua since june 2013 as aea's due diligence co-lead. roos was previously Cfo of unifrax, an industrial technology company carved out from British Petroleum in 1996 that grew fivefold during the subsequent years. florida water exPert aPPoiNted watereuse Chief a former deputy secretary of the florida department of environmental Protection has been appointed as the executive director of the watereuse association and the watereuse research foundation. Melissa l Meeker will take the place of g wade Miller, who announced his resignation from watereuse in august 2013. Meeker takes up the reins on 25 March 2014. she will lead the strategic growth of the two organizations, as well as operational programs, staff, and execution of their missions. immediately prior to joining watereuse, Meeker served as vice president of business line management for Csa ocean services inc, a marine environmental consulting firm founded in 1970. she was responsible for financial and office management, as well as business development. vial aPPoiNted BusiNess develoPMeNt MaNager By iNge denis vial has been appointed business development manager by german ultrafiltration (uf) membrane manufacturer inge gmbh, effective 1 March 2014. for the last five years he has been working as an independent consultant, but prior to that he spent eight years as marketing and communications manager for europe for Pall Corporation's water treatment division. he has also worked in different subsidiaries of the suez – lyonnaise des eaux group in france and the united states. he is based in Perpignan, france and can be contacted at denis.vial@basf.com or phone: +33 7 79 49 61 32. B&v's riMer joiNs Board of watereuse researCh fouNdatioN alan rimer, director of water reuse for Black & veatch, was recently elected to the watereuse research foundation board of directors. with a varied, 40-year career in environmental engineering, rimer has been involved with planning and design for a variety of water reuse, water resources, wastewater treatment, solid waste management, and environmental management projects. he has worked with local, state and the federal governments, as well as a wide variety of industries, across the united states, asia, europe and south america. thoMas will BeCoMes aquarioN grouP Coo aNd Md switzerland's aquarion group announced on 14 april 2014 that thomas will had joined the company as chief operating officer and managing director. will is managing aquarion water gmbh, prior to which he was managing director of hager + elsässer gmbh and previously served as division Manager of ondeo-is gmbh. he brings more than 20 years experience in the water treatment industry to his new position.
