The first of 35 foundations has been
installed at Dong Energy's Westermost
Rough offshore windfarm – marking
the beginning of offshore construction
at the project.
The windfarm, which is situated
8km off the Yorkshire coast north of
Hull, will for the first time use the
next-generation Siemens 6MW turbine
on a commercial scale. This marks
another milestone in Dong Energy's
plan to reduce the cost of offshore
wind to €100/MWh for projects cur-
rently in the construction queue.
