Tidal Lagoon Power (TLP) last week
submitted a planning application for
the world's first tidal lagoon power
plant, in Swansea Bay.
The 320MW project has so far
involved three years of feasibility work
and impact assessments and would
see a 9.5km-long sea wall built to cap-
ture enough renewable energy from
incoming and outgoing tides to power
121,000 homes.
TLP's goal is to supply 10 per cent
of the UK's domestic electricity by
2023 by building at least five full-scale
tidal lagoons in UK waters.
Questionnaires returned from
statutory consultation with the local
