| NEW PRODUCTS Redesigned website launched New Section 104 guide Xylem Water Solutions UK's latest line of its dewatering pump range is the Flygt BIBO, which incorporates a number of new features including an air valve to further aid dry running capabilities, whilst maintaining the original range of innovative features. It also features a "unique" closed impeller and suction cover with Dura-Pump grooves to sweep abrasive particles away from the impeller neck, which is enclosed within a tough aluminium outer casing. This makes the hydraulics at least three times as resistant to wear compared to pumps with open impellers. Magnetrol International, a manufacturer of level and flow process control instrumentation, has launched its new, redesigned corporate website. Users will enjoy the improved functionality and simplified navigation. The streamlined product offering enables the company to focus to a greater degree on customer's and representative's needs. The new site enables the company to more efficiently promote new products and initiatives, as well as quickly direct traffic to the content they are looking for. Not only is its website new, so is the corporate headquarters! In august, the U.S. headquarters relocated from Downers Grove to Aurora, Illinois. Magnetrol's headquarters move accommodates the need for increased capacity by the company. The relocation to a new 20.530m³ facility in the Meridian Business Campus more than doubles its production capacity, while housing Magnetrol's headquarters operation under one roof. Also the build will double production capacity of Magnetrol's regional headquarters for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India markets. Polypipe, a leading manufacturer of plastic sustainable drainage and water management products, has devised a useful guide to help developers deliver Section 104 compliant attenuation and sewer systems. The free brochure sets out what is expected from developers under the proposed changes to the Floods and Water Management Act 2010, along with a whole host of useful early stage design considerations The brochures sets for generating valuable time and out the proposed changes cost savings. The guide, entitled Water Management Solutions; Pipe Attenuation Solutions for Section 104 Adoption is packed with interesting case studies, key facts to consider at the early design stage and the product benefits plastic systems bring to projects. One such system that has been successfully used in a number of recent Section 104 compliant systems is Polypipe's Ridgistorm-XL large diameter plastic piping system. Polypipe's team is able to create engineered drainage solutions using Ridgistorm-XL pipes that are fabricated under factory conditions to meet clients exact specifications. www.xylemwatersolutions.com/uk www.magnetrol.com www.polypipe.com/civils/ Enviro designed for re-usable water supplies Thermostat with the personal touch GPS PE Pipe Systems has launched Enviro-Line, a PE pipe designed specifically for re-usable water supplies. The high performance PE pipe is suitable for rainwater harvesting, grey water and irrigation applications, and features the distinctive green stripe recommended by the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS) and the National Joint Utilities Group (NJUG). It has been launched to help specification of sustainable commercial and residential developments, providing a flexible and durable re-useable water infrastructure that avoids the risk of cross contamination with potable water supplies thanks to its black with green stripe colour coding. Enviro-Line is supplied in a wide range of sizes to suit any re-useable water pipe installation and provides a lightweight, corrosion-free option that is easy to install, easy to maintain and ensures a leak-free solution. Compatible with GPS's extensive range of electrofusion, butt fusion and spigot fittings, Enviro-Line is supplied in coils (up to 180mm) or sticks (up to 355mm) and available in SDR11 (25mm to 355mm) and SDR17 (90mm-355mm), with other SDRs being available. Hi-Velocity UK has developed the new Nest Learning Thermostat, a personalised schedule based on a person's routines. The system can be used for a few days and within a week, setting the temperatures when needed automatically. With Auto-Away technology, Nest automatically turns to an energy-efficient 'Away' temperature when it senses no movement within the building. Nest not only enhances comfort, but saves on energy bills too as the system will not be heating or cooling the premises unnecessarily while it is empty. With its stylish good looks, the real beauty of the Nest controller is that it will pay for itself in the savings made on energy bills. Metro uses Ashtead rental equipment Ashtead helps meet peak demand Hach Lange monitoring equipment used at DCWW Hach Lange is supplying sensors for the measurement of organic load, turbidity and chlorine to Black & Veatch for Dwr Cymru Welsh Water's (DCWW) £100M Go to Green programme. For the measurement of organic load, Hach Lange will supply the UVAS plus SC, The turbidity monitor an immersion probe featuring a multiple beam absorption photometer with effective turbidity compensation, a flash lamp photometer and a built-in wiper that automatically cleans the sensor window. Turbidity will be measured by the 1720E, a continuous-reading white light nephelometric turbidimeter designed for low-range monitoring from 0.0001 to 100.0 NTU. A wall-mounted colorimetric analyser, the CL17, will be deployed for the measurement of free chlorine with a measurement range from 0.03 - 5mg/l free residual chlorine. www.hach-lange.co.uk TT-UK designs suction excavator for SGN Teekay couplings used in 'Walkie Talkie' building TT-UK has been working in conjunction with SGN to design and deliver two bespoke TT-UK / RSP ESE 26/6 Suction Excavators to two of SGN's operating centres in Scotland; one in Edinburgh and the other one in Glasgow. TT-UK / RSP supplied the ESE 26/6 Suction Excavators that are fitted with a high speed single fan and a 4.1m power arm. The units have a 6³ container and are also fitted with an on board gas detection system and a safety hand rail system to allow safe access on to the roof of the 6³ container. Teekay pipe couplings have been used by Fitzpatick Mechanical Services as part of the drainage package at 20 Fenchurch Street − The Walkie Talkie − in London EC3. The couplings were used for key connections on cast iron, galvanized steel and copper pipework. This involved joining pipework of different pipe OD sizes. The Teekay Stepped pipe coupling was selected for its proven reliability and excellent reputation within the industry. Teekay supplied couplings and flange adaptors that were made bespoke for the project. www.teekaycouplings.com www.tt-uk.com With more than 40 regional drain cleaning service centres across the country, Metro Rod provides a 24-hour service to anyone with problems such as blocked or damaged drains, pipes, toilets, and sinks. To support this capability, the company and its franchisees maintain a fleet of the latest equipment such as tankers, high pressure jets, excavators, pipe liners and CCTV surveying equipment. To ensure a fast and effective response to all customer requests during periods of peak demand, many of the franchisees take advantage of Ashtead Technology's equipment rental fleet. www.ashtead-technology.com 20 | WET News | January 2014 Bespoke couplings were supplied
