INDUSTRY NEWS AMP TRACKER £190M contract extension for Amey Engineering company Amey has received a £190M extension to its contract with Severn Trent Water (STW). Under the contract, Amey will be responsible for carrying out clean water mains renewal and maintenance, as well as delivering sewer upgrades, flood alleviation projects and installing new or refurbishing existing pumping stations. Amey, which acquired contractor Enterprise earlier this year, has been working collaboratively with STW for 12 years. Simon Cocks, wastewater services director, STW, said, "To deliver our future investment programme on behalf of our customers we need to work collaboratively as One Severn Trent - and that means right the way across our supply chain. We've developed successful long-term relationships with all of our supply chain partners and we're pleased that we can continue to work together as one team to maximise the benefits of these arrangements." Rochdale aeration contract stays local Fast-growing aeration specialist Suprafilt has landed a £1M contract on its own doorstep. The Rochdale firm is to supply and install a new aeration system for the upgrade of the town's wastewater treatment works. Suprafilt was awarded the six-month contract by contractor KMI, which is responsible for the project that will increase capacity at United Utilities' Rochdale works and reduce the flow of ammonia into the River Roch. The works include the replacement of existing seven-inch ceramic disc diffusers with nine-inch membrane discs, as well as modifying existing tank headers to include new actuated control valves to improve zonal control. The contract is the company's second largest, following a £2M order to supply Liverpool's wastewater works. Suprafilt doubled its turnover in 2013 and looks set to increase it further in 2014. Sales director Graeme Fielden said, "This is an excellent contract for us to secure and we are delighted to be working with KMI. The growth of the company has been phenomenal and that's set to continue as we start to win more and more of these new projects." Southern opts for Discfilter treatment Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies has been awarded a contract to supply a Veolia Hydrotech Discfilter for tertiary treatment at Southern Water's Goddards Green sewage treatment works in West Sussex. The plant, which will Veolia's Hydrotech Discfilter is being meet a 95 percentile guarantee installed at a Sussex treatment works of 10mg/l total suspended solids standard, is due to be operational by March 2014.
