More than 80,000 people were left
without power as winds of up to
114mph damaged electricity distribution networks across Scotland last
week.
Scottish Hydro Electric Power
Distribution (SHEPD) mobilised more
than 1,100 engineers and support staff
to deal with the power cuts and repair
the damage to the network.
SSE, the parent company of
SHEPD, estimated that the storm
caused more than 300 high voltage
faults and 800 breaks in conductors.
