REGIONS Dalian Area with total capacity of 31,000 m3/d. Up to 2015, it is planned that in Dalian the desalination capacity will be raised to 280,000-300,000 m3/d with new schemes such as the 2nd Huaneng, Changningdao and Lvshun thermal power projects and the Songmudao Chemical Industry Park Project. A 100,000 m3/d desalination project is being constructed in the coastal industry base of Yingkou, while a 400,000 m3/d project is planned for Liaoning Coastal Development Zone, Panjin. Other key projects are to build a national desalination demonstration city and industry base and cultivate a national desalination technology research and development centre, both in Dalian. Table 1. Existing desalination projects with capacity >10,000 m3/d (2012) Dalian City Current desalination in Dalian City is only 42,000 m3/d, though another 42,000 m3/d can be found in the boats of the Dalian Ocean Fishery Group. The main working target for the city is, however, 500,000 m3/d by 2015, and double that figure by 2020. Desalination systems will be built in key industrial coastal areas such as Hongyanhe Circular Economy Area. Zhejiang Province Zhejiang is aiming for a total desalination capacity of 500,000 m3/d by the end of the current Five-Year Plan, but it is also proving to be a centre for desalination manufacture. More than 200 enterprises specialize in technology and equipment such as membranes, pumps, energyrecovery devices, filters, pipes, valves and automatic instruments. A number are also engaged on engineering design, system integration, engineering construction and services, while some, like Hangzhou Water Treatment Technology Development Center have emerged with core IPR in seawater desalination. Table 2. Desalination projects under construction (2012) Other areas Additional cities and provinces with substantial desalination installed or planned include: Ningbo City, Fujian Province, Xiamen City, Shandong Province, Qingdao City, Shenzhen City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Hainan Province, Gansu Province and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. The new yearbook also offers the following lists of major completed desalination projects and projects currently under way: | 18 | Desalination & Water Reuse | November-December 2013
