How do you protect East London from
14 tonnes per second of storm water?
Think Murphy.
A city's wellbeing depends on its environment. That was
especially important for East London in 2012. When the
Deephams Sewage Treatment Works struggles with peak
demand, storm tanks store the excess – but this can spill
over to the River Lea. To overcome this problem, Murphy is
using its skills in the design, construction, commissioning
and maintenance of water assets to create a new terminal
pumping station, inlet works and storm tanks – and to
refurbish and improve existing facilities. In fact we have
carried out all the civil, mechanical and electrical design.
For more than 60 years, Murphy has been building and
maintaining the infrastructure of the nation. We continue
to break new ground with the design and construction
of high-profile projects across a range of key industries.
From national tunnelling, power and rail projects to major
water and wastewater contracts, pipelines, and process
plant construction; with Murphy, the thinking is always as
important as the delivery.
