ConFeRenCe pReVieW will also be accorded the opportunity to visit the Goreangab Reclamation Plant and the Gammans Waste Water Careworks, Windhoek's Aquifer Recharge Scheme as well as the Von Bach-Swakopport Water Supply Scheme. Keynote speeches and papers will also be delivered at the IWA conference. These will include a keynote speech from a Namibian water expert, Ben Van der Merwe, who will speak on the History of potable water in Windhoek. Andre van Niekerk from South Africa will speak on Developments in water reuse Southern Africa – where should the focus be?, while Jorge Drewes from the USA will outline Global challenges for water re-use and the role of innovation and feedback from operation. Andre Hauser from Singapore, will deliver a paper on Top risks for innovative and complex water solutions while South African Graham James Metcalfe will present a paper on the Darvill Potable Reuse Study. From Germany, ChristianDominik Heinrich will lecture the conference on Energy-efficient wastewater reuse – the renaissance of Tricking Filter Technology. The conference will also give various opportunities for registered companies and institutions to exhibit their products. A small announcement stand for books and publications will also be available. The exhibition will be open from 28–30 October. The conference will not only provide an opportunity for sharing innovations and emerging solutions in water reuse, but will also contribute to the local economy through the booking of flights and hotels, safari tours, as well as banking and shopping. IWA was established in 1999 and is represented in 130 countries through its 10,000 individual and 500 cooperate members, including scientists from across many disciplines, economists, accountants, social scientists and managers and leaders among those professions. Namibians and Windhoekers in particular are proud to be hosting this IWA conference as it demonstrates that the world looks at Namibia as a leader in water reuse. The venue will be the Safari Hotel.
