UTILITY WEEK | MAY 2023 | 31 Generation Digging deep The world's deepest wind turbine foundation has been tted at what will be Scotland's largest o shore wind farm – Seagreen – o the coast of Angus. In April the 2,000-tonne foundations were li• ed into place by semi-submersible crane vessel Saipem 7000. The installation of the foundations means Seagreen has now topped its own record from October 2022, when a previous foundation was installed at a depth of 57.4 metres (approximately 188 feet). The deepest foundation has been installed at a depth of 58.6 metres. It is the 112th foundation (or jacket in industry parlance) at the 114-wind tur- bine wind farm, which is a £3 billion joint venture between SSE Renewables and TotalEnergies. Alistair Phillips-Davies, chief executive of SSE, said: "This is not only a signi cant step on the road to project completion but also shows how we continue to innovate and push the boundaries of technology to power change. Everyone involved in the pro- ject can be very proud of their contribution."
