26 | MAY 2022 | UTILITY WEEK Conference & exhibition Event Collaborative innovation brought to life Utility Week Live 2022 takes place at Birmingham's NEC on 17 & 18 May as we reunite the UK's energy and water industries in person to learn, seek inspiration and forge new partnerships. T his year's show represents our biggest and most comprehensive content programme yet, with chal- lenges identified through our close connections with the industry. The exhibition will welcome more than 100 speak- ers across five action-packed theatres with the pan- utility challenge programme featuring practical case studies and seminars tackling a range of frontline indus- try issues; and the keynote stage exploring the head- line themes of collaborative innovation and the race to achieve net-zero carbon targets. On the keynote stage we are proud to welcome some of the leading figures across the industry, including: • Matt Crabtree, engineering director, South West Water • Suleman Alli, director of strategy and regulation, UK Power Networks • Duncan Burt, chief sustainability officer, National Grid • Andi Karaboutis, group chief information and digital officer, National Grid • John Russell, director of strategy and planning, Ofwat • Jourdan Edwards, interim deputy director – onshore networks, Ofgem • Alison Japp, customer care director, Ovo • Rachel Fletcher, director of economics and regulation, Octopus The challenge programme will take place across three stages, featuring practical, hands-on content to help visi- tors tackle challenges including: • Decarbonising heat • Decarbonising transport • Improving customer experience post-pandemic • Delivering first-class field operations • Optimising data for better business • Delivering best in class asset management • Planning and delivering streetworks • Delivering smart water networks • Delivering smart energy networks • Optimising wastewater treatment • Deploying technology for better business Visitors from utilities are also invited to attend our new, interactive "collaborate exchange" sessions, for an an opportunity to share their experiences with peers from across utilities on topics including recruitment and retention and behavioural change. Facilitators include the Cabinet Office's famous 'nudge unit', on behavioural change, and a real life inventor on open innovation. On top of this, our innovation stage will delve into actionable insights on subjects ranging from hydrogen blending to trial-to-purchase pilots and innovating to support vulnerable customers.
