Is hydrogen heating
key to zero-carbon?

n one of the latest devel-
opments in driving the
UK towards a zero car-
bon future, the Welsh
Government recently
revealed plans that
will see all new homes
in Wales heated and powered
only by clean energy aer 2025.
Indeed in many ways, Wales
sits at the vanguard of low
carbon energy solutions. The
Zero 2050 initiative, developed
by National Grid, will see the
development of a solution for
significant and impactful activ
-
ity in South Wales to achieve
net zero by 2050. In the UK
more widely, the Government's
Future Homes Standard will
require new-build homes to
be "future-proofed" with low
carbon heating and measures to
ensure energy efficiency. These
are welcome steps, but are not
without challenges. However,
there are a number of reasons
to be optimistic.
