Designed by Sir Joseph Bazal gette, in his role as chief engineer for the Metropolitan Board of Works, and architect Charles Henry Driver, and commissioned in 1865, the plant features spectacular ornamental cast ironwork, widely regarded as some of the most impressive Victorian iron work in the world.
