The electricity system operator (ESO)
at National Grid said it wants to lower
transmission charges on generators
to €0.50/MWh as it seeks to establish
which costs are covered by an EU-
imposed cap.
To create a level playing field
between generators in different
states, the EU requires that
transmission charges, excluding
connection costs, be kept within the
range €0-2.50/MWh.
The ESO has proposed a modifica-
tion to the Connection and Use of
System Code (CUSC) with the aim of
clarifying exactly which costs should
be excluded from the limit following
a modification put forward be SSE
which was later rejected.
