Congratulations to our award fi nalists In this context, we can look forward to a landmark Utility Week Awards, with companies vying to display their relevance and excellence in a new world order. Their appetite to do so can be in no doubt. For the industry's 2019 awards, we have received a record number of entries by a substantial margin, with all submissions showing determination to demonstrate fi t-for-future expertise. This has come in a variety of forms, from entries which demonstrate direct contributions to decarbonisation and mitigation of climate change to those that focus on the application of technologies that will help engage customers in that journey, or submissions that major on reimagining relationships between industry partners or investors so that utilities can step up to the long-term responsibilities of an industry which is so very connected to social good. The passion and ambition in this year's entries has posed a challenge to our judges, who have been forced to make tough decisions on which submissions should make the cut to our prestigious list of fi nalists – let alone those that should be crowned best of the best for 2019. Refl ecting the fast-paced changes hitting home in this sector, those fi nalists will this year include pioneers of radical change thanks to the introduction of our new Disruptor Award. And we've also updated the focus of our technology category to shift our focus away from business as usual, if effective, applications of IT, and towards recognition of Digital Transformation. Every fi nalist across all our categories will receive feedback on their application from our expert judging panel, ensuring excellence is recognised across the board and areas for further improvement highlighted. Thank you to every company that took the time to communicate their achievements, growth and dedication by entering this year's awards – as well as to our judges and sponsors for their role in ensuring a fi tting celebration of all the incredible work UK utilities are undertaking to ensure customers today and tomorrow can benefi t from the reliable and sustainable essential services. We look forward to seeing you on 9 December at the Grosvenor House Hotel for an awards ceremony to remember.
