22 | 13TH - 19TH SEPTEMBER 2019 | UTILITY WEEK High viz The world's longest offshore wind tur- bine blade has arrived at the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult's test site in Blyth, Northumberland, where it will be evaluated at the 100m blade-test facility. The 107m LM Wind Power blade is designed to operate from GE Renewa- ble Energy's Haliade-X 12MW turbine, which is also the biggest to date. The blade will be tested to dem- onstrate its ability to withstand high winds and ensure its readiness for years of operation at sea. Three other 107m blades will soon be shipped to a prototype site in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
