Working with Balfour Beatty, the company used a special 'waste plastic asphalt'. A new water treatment works that will serve three small communities in North Harris, Outer Hebrides, has been delivered by sea to one of the island's most spectacular beaches. The new Scottish Water plant was loaded on to a specialised barge at Kishorn. CONTRACT WINS Yorkshire Water has confirmed that Integrated Utility Services (IUS), Freedom, Smith Brothers Contracting and Linbrooke Services have secured places on its high-voltage electrical design & build works and specialist studies services framework. The arrangements are for a minimum of four years to February 2023, designed to support the remainder of AMP6 and AMP7, with a forecast value up to £55 million. IUS has also secured the contract for HV electrical support services including minor works frameworks in the north and east regions, with Smith Brothers Contracting responsible for the west region and Freedom taking care of the south region. WPL has been awarded a contract for permanent replacement of a rotating biological contactor (RBC) at United Utilities' Mowpen Brow wastewater treatment works. WPL's Hybrid-SAFTM enhanced biological treatment process will be retrofitted into the existing RBC tank at the site near Knutsford. CORRECTION 80% A Water Regulation Advisory Scheme (WRAS) study has found that 80 per cent of people in Britain admit to committing at least one water-wasting habit regularly. It also found that around one in five still leave the tap running when brushing their teeth or washing their face. 52% Research conducted by B&A for Irish Water found 52 per cent of the public acknowledge they waste water and 25 per cent believe they don't need to conserve water because of the level of rainfall in Ireland.
